The Gospel of Convictions | NIL Week 3
In this week's message, Pastor Rick Vannoy continues the NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) series, teaching about the importance of developing personal convictions about the gospel. Drawing from Galatians, Pastor Rick explains that we cannot live on borrowed convictions—our faith must be personal, grounded in our own experiences with Christ. The gospel isn't something we inherit from others; it's something we experience directly with God, and it's that conviction that brings true life transformation.
As Pastor Rick recounts the Apostle Paul’s personal testimony, we learn how the truth of the gospel is revealed by God, how His grace changes us from the inside out, and how living in the Spirit offers us freedom from the constraints of the law. Whether you're struggling with a faith that feels secondhand or you're seeking to deepen your personal relationship with Jesus, this message is a powerful reminder that true conviction comes from a one-on-one experience with God.
Take some time to reflect on the truth of the gospel and how it applies to your life through these discussion questions:
Discussion Questions for Small Groups:
- What does it look like to have a conviction that comes directly from God? How do you know it's personal and not borrowed?
- Can you recall a time when God's grace transformed you in a significant way? What changed in your life as a result?
- How can we ensure that our beliefs about Jesus are based on personal revelation rather than tradition or culture?
- What does the freedom of living in the Spirit mean to you, and how does it change your day-to-day walk with Christ?
- How can we better offer the gospel to others in a way that encourages them to develop their own convictions rather than simply borrowing someone else's?
